Forward Doug McDermott scored 19 points, but the Bulls squandered a late lead and lost to the Brooklyn Nets 87-86 on Tuesday at the Las Vegas summer league.
Rookie forward Bobby Portis finished with 9 points and 10 rebounds, while center Cameron Bairstow added 14.
The Bulls led 86-76 with 1:03 left after a layup by Iowa State product Tyrus McGee (16 points). But the Nets answered with an 11-0 run, aided by two offensive rebounds off missed free throws and two Bulls turnovers.
Rookie guard Ryan Boatright, from East Aurora High School, had a bank shot and 3-point play with 2.4 seconds left to supply the winning margin. Boatright led Brooklyn with 21 points.
The Las Vegas summer league will begin single-elimination playoffs on Wednesday.
The Bulls also officially announced the re-signing of free agents Mike Dunleavy and Aaron Brooks on Tuesday.
