'Art of Imagination' returns to St. Charles library in July

The St. Charles Public Library is privileged to once again host "Art of the Imagination," the Community Unit District 303 Student Art Show, from July 1-31.

For more than 25 years, the library has been host to the show which will feature artwork created by elementary through high school students including drawings, paintings, weavings, photographs, sculptures and digital media. The student art will be displayed in the Huntley Meeting Room, the art gallery on the mezzanine and both lobby display cases.

"The St. Charles Library Imagination Art Show is a great opportunity for some of the D303 K-12 Visual Art programs to showcase student artwork," said Rebecca Hubbs, art teacher at Wredling Middle School. "The art show will feature the 2014-15 permanent collections from most schools and is a small glimpse of the many talented artists we have the privilege to teach every day."

The District 303 art programs continue to build on 21st Century Learning Skills while incorporating Studio Habits of Mind.

An open house showcasing the student artists will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 11, in the Huntley Meeting Room at the library, 1 S. Sixth Ave. Refreshments will be served.

The public is invited to view the artwork at the library during the month of July. Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. For information, call (630) 584-0076, ext. 240, or visit www.st-charles.lib.il.us.
