Bandits' Abbott comes out on top in pitcher's duel against Dallas

MCKINNEY, Texas - It was quite a pitcher's duel in Texas tonight between Monica Abbott of the Bandits and Jolene Henderson of the Dallas Charge, but it was the Bandits who came out victorious behind the 17-strikeout performance of their ace.

Lauren Haeger broke up Abbott's no-no in the fourth with a double, but neither team was able to put a run on the board until the top of the seventh inning when a Charge error allowed Brittany Cervantes to cross home, and put the Bandits up 1-0.

That was all the offense the Bandits would need as Abbott shut down the Charge in the bottom of the inning with 3 consecutive strikeouts to secure the complete game shutout, finishing once again with an impressive 17 strikeouts and improving her record to 6-1 on the season. Henderson suffered the loss despite allowing just the 1 run on 3 hits with 6 strikeouts in her seven innings of work.
