Sausage Bread

Filling

1½ pounds Italian sausage, out of the casing and broken into chunks

3 cups provolone cheese

3 tablespoons Romano or Parmesan cheese

2 green peppers cut into bite size pieces (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Cook sausage until almost browned; add the green pepper if using and continue to cook for 2-3 minutes. Salt and pepper to taste.

If using frozen dough such as Rhodes:

Follow the instructions on thawing the dough.

Once the dough is thawed, roll out into a 10x14 rectangle about ½ inch thick.

Spread with sausage filling and cheese. The recipe will fill at least two breads.

Roll dough and filling like a jelly roll. Place on a greased and floured baking sheet; two per sheet should be fine.

Brush top of bread with an egg wash.

Bake at the temperature in Rhodes instructions for at least 30-45 minutes.
