New Maine Township code enforcement officer appointed

Michael Samaan has been appointed Maine Township's new code enforcement officer, responsible for enforcing the township's property maintenance, garbage and parking ordinances in unincorporated areas.

Samaan said in a news release that his goal is to ensure compliance with community standards that will result in an improved quality of life and increase in property values. Among the areas of concern to the code enforcement office are vehicle storage, garbage, exterior maintenance, accessory building and materials, vegetation, driveways and walkways, infestation and extermination, parkways and snow removal.

Samaan, 28, has worked in the township's maintenance department since 2003. His appointment was approved by the township board in June. He replaces Larry Bunyon, who left for a position the with Cook County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
