Allstate cuts workers in technology area

Northbrook-based Allstate said Thursday it has laid off an unspecified number of workers this week in its technology area.

The company said in a statement that it reviewed various operations and sought to improve its business performance.

“We understand this will not be easy for our employees and we will ensure that all of our employees affected by this decision are treated with respect, consistent with Allstate's policies,” said Allstate Spokeswoman Laura Strykowski.

Eligible employees can apply for other positions in the company, she said.
