Elk Grove teen finishes in top 10 in Distinguished Young Women competition

An Elk Grove Village teen was one of 10 finalists in the Distinguished Young Women National Finals, a scholarship competition held last weekend in Mobile, Alabama.

However, Chase Dorn, a 2015 graduate of James B. Conant High School, lost out to Máire Nakada of Alaska for the title of Distinguished Young Woman of America. For her efforts, Dorn was awarded a $2,500 scholarship and a $1,000 preliminary competition award in the fitness category. Contestants were judged in the categories of fitness, self-expression, talent, and scholastic performance, as well as an individual interview.

Dorn plans to attend the University of Illinois and become a corporate attorney. She was featured as a Daily Herald Suburban Standout last September and is recognized as an elite national baton twirler.
