Cary-Grove senior to sing at Special Olympics World Games

A Cary-Grove High School senior will soon be front-and-center on an international stage at the Special Olympics World Games.

Breanna Bogucki is a talented singer and has competed at nine Special Olympics Games. In July, Bree will join O.A.R. singer Marc Roberge, singer and songwriter Cody Simpson, and YouTube sensation Madison Tevlin to sing the anthem song at the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics World Games.

In March, Bree was invited by Coca-Cola to record the song, "Reach Up," and video in Los Angeles.

"I loved the experience and being with Cody, Madison and Marc. We became a family; I really loved the song and I felt comfortable with them. It was so amazing," said Bogucki.

The four recently appeared on ABC's "Good Morning America," June 15, and sang the song a cappella. They also did several interviews with radio and television stations across the country to promote the song's inspirational message.

"Since I'm a Special Olympics athlete and Special Olympics Global Messenger, it's important to me to create awareness for the Special Olympics World Games. An interviewer asked me about advice I had for those with autism. I emphasized the importance of getting help right away, and early intervention."

Bree was born with autism. She also spends her time as a Global Messenger, speaking at events about the positive impact Special Olympics has had on her life and sharing her story about how people with disabilities can do anything.

Before flying to New York City and appearing on Good Morning America, Bree competed at Illinois Special Olympics state competition. She took home two gold medals in gymnastics on the vault and floor.

Bree is now preparing for her performance in Los Angeles at the Opening Ceremony on July 25. She also will be busy this summer running with Cary-Grove High School's cross-country and track team, playing softball through Special Olympics and continuing her piano and voice lessons.

Bree will graduate from Cary-Grove High School in May 2016, and she has a lot of ideas of what she wants to do after graduation.

"Singing will always be part of my life, but I want to inspire people. Maybe I will become a psychologist or continue public speaking. I want to help people. I'm just excited to see where life takes me."

The music video "Reach Up" is available to view online.
