Beer tasting aids Palatine senior center

More than 100 people enjoyed Moretti's pizza and sampled brews at Drink Nightclub June 4 for the third annual "Beers to You!" beer tasting fundraiser benefiting the Palatine Township Senior Center.

Many people enjoyed the warm weather on the patio and upbeat music provided by America's Best DJ's. Karen Fay, Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council board chairman and beer tasting co-chairman and co-chair Diane Iser welcomed guests and acknowledged the sponsors for the evening.

"I support the Palatine Township Senior Center (PTSCC) because they touch so many lives in Palatine Township and surrounding communities," said Fay. "The programs and services offered are vital to the well-being of older adults and their families and help them stay independent and connected to the community.

"Because PTSCC is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit, we have to raise nearly 60 percent of our revenue each year. One of the ways we do this is by offering fundraisers that are fun and engaging; a gala in February, a beer tasting in June and Girls Night Out in the fall."

Nearly $6,500 was raised for the programs and services offered at the Palatine Township Senior Center.

There were 21 raffle baskets and three silent auction items. The most popular items included two craft beer baskets, a Two Brothers Brewery basket and a Chicago Blackhawks limited edition signature hockey stick autographed by Denis Savard.
