Geneva Commons concert series kicks off with Mike & Joe

With the colder weather we've had it's hard to believe, but it's already time for the Geneva Commons Summer Concert series.

The first show in the concert begins this Sunday, June 7, at the outdoor mall along the Randall Road corridor.

Mike & Joe will kick off the series, which runs every Sunday and Wednesday from June 7 to July 1.

They'll take the stage from 5 to 7 p.m. for the free concert, which will feature modern rock cover songs, with a focus on hits from the 90s and 2000s.

This is the 13th annual Summer Concert Series at the mall.

All of the concerts will take place in the shopping center's courtyard between Houlihan's and Bar Louie.

Guests are invited to bring along chairs and blankets to sit on, and they also can bring along food and snacks for the whole family.

The Sunday concerts will all start at 5 p.m., and Wednesday concerts begin at 6:30 p.m.

Those who arrive early could get a free gift. The mall is giving away a free 16-ounce double-walled tumbler to the first 50 people at each concert.

The remainder of the concert series is as follows, weather permitting:

Wednesday, June 10, the Dupage Band will perform from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The band will play a mix of songs from the best of Motown, classic rock, adult contemporary and today's Top 40.

On Sunday, June 14, perennial favorite 7th heaven will takes the stage, playing danceable renditions of Def Leppard, the Beatles, Journey, U2 and more.

Tropixplosion performs Wednesday, June 17. It is a high-energy, Caribbean band featuring steel drums, percussion, rock 'n' roll guitar and vocals.

Spoken Four will take the stage Sunday, June 21. The band's music bridges all eras from the 60s through today's top 40 hits, with vocal precision.

On Wednesday June 24, JoBu performs. The band blurs the lines between rock and reggae and creates an atmosphere conducive to dancing and grooving.

Hi-Infidelity will perform Sunday, June 28. The band is an award-winning '80s cover band playing classic rock, including Bon Jovi, REO Speedwagon and more, plus some originals mixed in.

The concert series ends on July 1, with a performance from The Hat Guys. They play rock 'n' roll, country, disco, hip-hop, 60s music and current hits. They highly encourage audiences to dance and sing along, as do many of the bands.

During the concert series nights, the mall office will be handing out discount coupons valid at select eateries at Geneva Commons during concert times.
