Glenbard West powers past Bolingbrook
Pace, power and intensity were on full display for Glenbard West at the IMSA boys volleyball regional on Tuesday night.
Powered by a total of 31 kills for the evening yet only 4 errors, the Hilltoppers tore past Bolingbrook 25-11, 25-15.
One of the strongest hitters of the match, both with serve and spike, was Glenbard West senior Kyler Kotsakis.
"Kyler has worked so hard on that serve," said 10-year coach Christine Giunta, whose team moves to 34-2 for the season. "He is an exceptional player and can run the tempo of anything he wants. He's kind of one of those guys that if he is running the tempo and he wants it high speed, everybody will follow his lead, and the whole court trusts him."
The Hilltoppers ran off two stretches of 4 unearned points in the second game and pulled away from the Raiders.
"I am very proud of them. I couldn't have asked for anything better. We had a battle plan against a really amazing team and program," said Raiders coach Andrea Bercot.
Kotsakis hopes to use his almost overpowering serve deep into the regional.
"I try to naturally move from one side of the court to the other, switch up the angles, and it's working pretty well so far," he said.
