Elk Grove names gymnastics coach

Elk Grove High School has named Amy Burke, current math teacher and assistant girls gymnastics coach, as the school's new head girls gymnastics coach.

The former Wheeling all-state gymnastics standout and president of the Grand Valley State University Gymnastics club is very excited to take over the reigns.

"I'm thankful and thrilled about the opportunity to lead the already growing gymnastics program here at EGHS," said Burke. "I'm anxious to work again with the strong team we established last year, in addition to hopefully many new members, with renewed energy and perspective."

"Ms. Burke has built an incredible gymnastics resume and is ready to take the next step as our head girls gymnastics coach," said Elk Grove Assistant Principal for Student Activities Bob Murphy. "She has a strong passion for athletics and brings a positive energy to our athletic department."

Burke is already busy planning for the gymnastics season that begins in November. "Right now I'm focused on making the best of the off season time we have; I hope to see as many girls at our summer camp, so we can start building a foundation for the season."
