Pie Five pizza expanding to Palatine, Algonquin

Palatine residents visiting the Dundee Road retail complex that soon will feature a Chipotle Mexican Grill, Jersey Mike's Subs and Starbucks will be able to grab a pizza as well, now that a Pie Five Pizza Co. restaurant was added to the site plan Monday.

Pie Five sells small personal pizzas prepared within five minutes, hence the name.

"The whole process takes five minutes from when you order," said Christina Coy, the company's vice president of marketing. "We can offer pizza to someone in a hurry, and they can eat it on the go or they can eat it in our restaurant."

If you aren't familiar with the Dallas-based pizza chain yet, you may be by the end of the year. Last month, Pie Five opened locations in Schaumburg, Skokie and Naperville. The Palatine location is one of three more opening in the area in June and July, along with restaurants in Algonquin and Elmhurst.

Coy said the chain will have 15 locations in the Chicago area by the end of the year.

In addition to Pie Five, Chipotle, Jersey Mike's and Starbucks, the Palatine retail complex at 781 E. Dundee Road will include an AT&T store and a Menchie's Frozen Yogurt. The site was most recently an Applebee's restaurant.

The development, approved by the Palatine village council in August 2014, originally included an urgent-care medical office called Epic Urgent and Family Care. That business instead opened an office down the street at 768 E. Dundee Road in March.

The retail complex was put together by GMX Real Estate Group. The firm could not be reached for comment Tuesday on when the complex will be completed.

The Palatine village council unanimously approved adding Pie Five to the retail complex at their meeting Monday night.
