Free fitness for veterans

The Mundelein Park & Recreation District offers qualifying veterans two free, one-year memberships to its Park View Health & Fitness Center, 1401 N. Midlothian Road. The Healthy Minds Healthy Bodies Program provides a way for veterans to transition back into the community through fitness. The free memberships are for the veteran and one workout partner of their choice. Also included are up to 15 free personal training sessions for the veteran, networking opportunities and support. In addition to certification, trainers have specific skills to deal with many injuries and illnesses specific to veterans, such as spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, diabetes, amputation and PTSD. The program includes monthly networking opportunities to provide mentoring, peer support and connecting with other veteran organizations. They vary from speakers, workshops, to activities in a "veteran-friendly" atmosphere. Visit http://healthymindshealthybodies.org/ or call (847) 388-5430.
