Schaumburg awards contracts for emerald ash borer response

As the end of the area's emerald ash borer crisis begins to come into view, Schaumburg officials began their new fiscal year this week with the approval of $472,035 in contracts to deal with the insect infestation and the damage it's caused to the village's tree population.

A $309,460 contract was awarded to Acres Group of Roselle for a year's supply of new tree plantings from a variety of non-ash species.

The village also awarded a $162,575 contract to Robert Kinnucan Tree Experts of Lake Bluff for three years of treatment services for surviving ash trees in Schaumburg.
