U-46 students to participate in Relay For Life

Elgin Area School District U-46's 2015 Relay For Life will be from 6 p.m. Friday, May 15, until 6 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at the South Elgin High School stadium, 760 E. Main St., South Elgin.

Relay For Life is a 12-hour, overnight fundraiser in which teams work together to "celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost to the disease, and fight back against a disease that takes far too much."

Teams of any size raise money throughout the year. At the annual event, team members take turns walking the outdoor track throughout the night symbolizing that cancer never sleeps. Teams will have their own campsites. There will be entertainment, activities, and food available during the night.

Participants raising $100 will receive a T-shirt each, and be able to spend the night.

Vendors, including Jamberry Nails, Origami Owl, Pampered Chef, and Cupcakes, will be selling items between 5 and 8 p.m. Friday. A portion of the proceeds will go to Relay For Life. Businesses interested in selling items should contact Ann Brady at annbrady@u-46.org.
