Administer Justice offers free seminar on 'The Basics of Trusts'

Administer Justice, a local nonprofit providing legal, financial, conflict resolution and educational services to low-income individuals, will offer a free seminar on "The Basics of Trusts" on Thursday, May 7.

The seminar will be held from noon to 1 p.m. at the organization's main office located at 1750 Grandstand Place, Elgin.

Trusts are only one of four ways to transfer assets upon death. Topics covered in this one-hour presentation will include: advantages and disadvantages of the trust, whether a trust avoids death taxes, and whether a trust avoids creditor's claims.

Attorney Al Lee of Pluymert, MacDonald, Hargrove & Lee, Ltd. in Des Plaines, will be presenting.

The seminar is free and open to all, however, space is limited. You must RSVP in advance by emailing seminars@administerjustice.org or by calling (847) 844-1100.

Attorneys and paralegals will get one hour of CLE credit for attending this course. Participants are encouraged to bring their lunch.

Administer Justice, a faith-based nonprofit legal aid organization, takes a holistic approach to client care providing free civil legal assistance, counseling on money management, debt reduction, and tax rights and responsibilities. The organization, headquartered in Elgin, served over 4,500 individuals in 2014 with the help of hundreds of volunteers who donated over 10,000 hours serving low-income individuals from the Northwest suburbs.
