Kram tosses 1-hitter for Wheaton Academy

Wheaton Academy 4, Illiana Christian 0:

Luke Kram pitched a 1-hitter with 10 strikeouts and 2 walks for the Warriors (15-5, 9-2) in the Metro Suburban Conference win. Wheaton Academy scored all its runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Chris Johnson singled home the first run, Kram drove in the second on a fielder's choice and Noah Ritchie added insurance with a 2-run single.

Glenbard South 3, Elmwood Park 2:

Trailing 2-0 heading to the bottom of the seventh inning, the Raiders (14-5, 9-3) scored 3 runs to pull out the Metro Suburban Conference win. Run-scoring hits by Alex McGimpsey and Michael Ashe led to the winning run scoring on an error. Joey Gedwill picked up the win in relief of Fabian Garcia.

Neuqua Valley 8, South Elgin 5:

Pulling away to a 7-1 third-inning lead, the Wildcats (16-4, 11-2) swept in the Upstate Eight Valley. Nick Hilgemann, Tyler Tesmond, winning pitcher Alex DiFranco and Will Drake all had 2 hits. Matt Gould drove in 2 runs.

Waubonsie Valley 14, Bartlett 4:

The Warriors (16-3, 11-1) won their eighth straight game by sweeping in the Upstate Eight Valley. Nick Price went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI while Ryan Jones and Brandon Petersen drove in 2 runs. Quinton Zielke and Preston Everts combined on the mound.

West Chicago 8, Streamwood 3:

The Wildcats (9-9, 6-6) capped the three-game Upstate Eight River sweep. Alex Cabral was the complete-game winning pitcher. Brian Sullivan went 2-for-3 and John Sturm had 2 RBI.

Fenton 14, Walther Christian 4:

The Bison (11-7, 5-4) scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to end the Metro Suburban Conference game early. Cory Schwarz and Brady Pugliese had 2 hits while David Alden and Saul Aguire drove in 2 runs. Matt Lucas was the winning pitcher.

Metea Valley 12, East Aurora 2:

A 6-run first inning paved the way for the Mustangs (14-5, 9-4) to sweep in the Upstate Eight Valley. Connor Lovely and Blake Honda had 2 RBI. Jacob Petersen struck out seven in the five-inning game.
