Dancing with the Starz features local celebrity dancers and benefits seniors

The fourth annual Dancing with the Starz Benefit Gala raises money to help isolated and homebound senior citizens in DuPage County.

The gala, hosted by the DuPage Senior Citizens Council, is 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at The Westin Chicago Northwest, 400 Park Blvd., Itasca.

The evening features local celebrity dancers paired with professionals from the Fred Astaire Dance Studio competing to be crowned the 2015 Dancing with the Starz champion. Celebrity dancers committed for this year's event include Michael Cunningham of Grove Dental, chef Scott Fischer of Fisch and Chips, Alissa McCurley of Sen. Mark Kirk's office, former American Idol contestant Gina Glocksen-Ruzicka, Marley Kaden of NBC 5, and Hermene Hartman, CEO of N'DIGO Magazine.

The event includes a reception and dinner, live auction, vacation raffle, and a program of professional and celebrity dance performances. The dance floor is open to general dancing at 6 p.m. This year's event also features musical performances by country music artist Andrew Salgado and jazz celebrity Zemrah.

"Attendees at our Dancing with the Starz event can have a great time and feel good knowing that they have helped seniors who struggle with poverty and isolation," said Marylin Krolak, executive director of DuPage Senior Citizens Council.

Individual tickets cost $125 each; vacation raffle tickets are $75 each or two for $100 (winner need not be present). To buy event or raffle tickets, call Tasha Samuels at (630) 620-0804, ext. 106, or visit dupageseniorcouncil.org.

A not-for-profit, volunteer-driven organization, DuPage Senior Citizens Council provides a variety of programs for seniors, including home-delivered meals, community dining, home maintenance and chore days, health and wellness education, and well-being checks.
