CLC campus to host Cinco de Mayo celebration

Food, fun and entertainment are on tap at the Cinco de Mayo celebration Tuesday, May 5, at the College of Lake County Lakeshore Campus in downtown Waukegan. The event will be held outdoors from noon to 2 p.m. in the CLC Lakeshore Campus courtyard, corner of Genesee Street and Madison Avenue.

Entertainment will include music by DJ David Olivares and a mariachi band from Cook Magnet School in Waukegan, plus Cinco de Mayo stories. Cinco de Mayo commemorates the victory of the Mexicans over the French army at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.

Community members are invited to this free celebration, where they can also experience a "Taste of Lakeshore" and learn about the programs and services available at the Lakeshore Campus, including course offerings for summer session and fall semester.

For more information, call the Lakeshore Campus Special Projects Office at (847) 543-2191 or visit www.clcillinois.edu/lakeshore.

The Lakeshore campus is at 33 N. Genesee St. in downtown Waukegan.

Cinco de Mayo is sponsored by the Lakeshore Campus Student Association.
