Schardt sets winning pace for Lakes

Kortney Schardt cruised to victories in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs, helping Lakes' girls track and field team win the District 117 invitational Thursday night.

Lakes totaled 113 points, well ahead of runner-up Grayslake Central (89). Mundelein (72) finished third in the 10-team meet.

Schardt posted times of 5:23.11 in the 1,600 and 11:35.57 in the 3,200 run. Lakes also received wins from Taylor Tilmon in the 100 dash (13.12), Erica Terry in the 400 dash (1:02.00) and Maeve Tuley in the pole vault (9-3).

Grayslake Central's Alexa Schmitt captured the long jump (17-1) and 300 hurdles (47.46). Her Rams teammate Sara O'Malley ran a winning time of 2:29.62 in the 800 run.

Grayslake North's Allie O'Connell easily won the 100 hurdles (15.42), and Mundelein's Katie Stanczykiewicz cleared a victorious 5-2 in the high jump.
