Des Plaines officials are preparing for road closures and traffic delays Thursday afternoon when Cardinal Francis George's funeral procession makes its way to All Saints Cemetery.

The cardinal will be buried at the George family plot at All Saints Cemetery East, located east of River Road and south of Central Road. The committal service will be open to the public.

About 3 p.m., Des Plaines police will close River, from Central to Golf roads, to accommodate the arrival of the funeral procession, and plan to maintain the road closure until the service has concluded. Intermittent street closures are also expected along the procession route. The procession will be coming from east Dempster Street, to Rand Road, then to River and the cemetery.
