April 17: CLC Gospel Choir presents concert with Chatham Choral Ensemble

A spirited gospel music concert, featuring the College of Lake County Gospel Choir and the Chatham Choral Ensemble of Chicago will be held at 7 p.m. on April 17 in the C Wing Auditorium at the CLC Grayslake campus. Both ensembles are directed by Charles Thomas Hayes, founder of the Chatham Choral Ensemble.

Due to construction of the new Science and Engineering Building, please enter at the B Wing and park in lot 4 or 5 to access the C Wing. The college is located at 19351 W. Washington St. in Grayslake.

The CLC Gospel Choir will sing the following selections: "Lift Every Voice and Sing" by J. Rosamond Johnson, arranged by Roland Carter; "Shut De Do" by Randy Stonehill; "Bridge Over Troubled Water" Paul Simon, arranged by Kirby Shaw; "Ride the Chariot," arranged by William Henry Smith. Gayle Adkins-McDonald serves as the choir's assistant director and accompanist.

The 20-member Chatham Choral Ensemble of Chicago will sing the following: "God and God Alone" by Phill McHugh, arranged by Tom Fettke; "Swing Down Chariot" by Roberta Martin; "My Tribute" by Andre Crouch; "Gospel Mass" by Robert Ray, a seven-movement piece; and "He Never Failed Me Yet" by Robert Ray. Featured soloists are Jeffrey Burish and Dr. Sandra Leconte, a former director of the CLC Gospel Choir.

Tickets: Regular $4, CLC/Senior $3, available at the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts Box Office or by phone (847) 543-2300 or at www.clcillinois.edu/tickets. Tickets will be on sale at the Box Office until noon on April 17. Tickets will then be available at the C Wing Auditorium door starting at 6 p.m. Choral concerts are not suitable for children under age 3.
