Vaughan Athletic Center hosts open house on April 18

Visitors of all ages can find out what Fox Valley Park District's Vaughan Athletic Center has to offer today during an after-hours open house.

The Mix-N-Match event will allow visitors to explore the award-winning facility and all its amenities, along with taking part in various activities and demonstrations from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at 2121 W. Indian Trail, Aurora. Admission is $3.

"We're opening our doors and encouraging people to come and explore," facility manager Eric Wilson said. "There's something for everybody at the Vaughan Center, so we want to make these opportunities available while promoting healthy lifestyles for all ages."

The evening will feature demos of adult and youth classes that include tennis, karate, volleyball, soccer, aqua fitness, dance and Lego learning.

Open pool time in the indoor water park and swim areas will be available, as will open gym. Children can participate in a mini-token hunt and adults are invited to try out the fitness center and running track.

The multilevel Vaughan Center offers a state-of-the-industry fitness center, group exercise studios and three pools, including an eight-lane lap pool and warm-water therapy pool. The tennis center features nine courts, and the field house host four courts for various basketball and sports leagues, along with batting cages.

Two indoor tracks are also available, and a 4,000-square-foot indoor playhouse with child-care services keeps children ages 3 to 11 active during their parents' workouts.
