Wow - Wedl's perfect for Wauconda

Kayla Wedl did it all for Wauconda's softball team Tuesday.

The University of Illinois-Chicago commit threw a perfect game, striking out 14, and also hit 2 home runs, as the Bulldogs defeated host Grant 11-0 in North Suburban Prairie Division action.

Wauconda (9-6, 2-1) got a 3-for-4 performance from Taylor McCarthy, while Hayley Redmann (2-for-3) and Brooke Sefcik also homered.

Mundelein 11, Zion-Benton 6: Karlee Busscher did it again, homering for the fifth time in four games.

Busscher's 3-run shot (her six for the season) helped hike Mundelein's record to 11-2 and 2-0 in the North Suburban Lake. She finished 3-for-3, while Maggie Mahar went 3-for-4. Maddie Zazas was 2-for-3.

Busscher, Maria DeVito and Hannah Bulgart all doubled. Breanna Adams pitched 5 innings for the win.

Libertyville 14, Vernon Hills 0: Hannah Heraty and Jamie Stevens homered for the Wildcats in the North Suburban crossover.

Heraty finished 3-for-3 with 3 RBI, while Stevens was 2-for-3 with 3 RBI. Libertyville (9-3) also got offensive contributions from Jessie Lauret (2-for-3, 2 doubles), Sam Hilldale (2-for-3, 2 doubles), Madi Dembinski (2-for-2, double), Michaela Mooney (2-for-3), Emily Hilldale (2-for-2, double 2 RBI) and Lyndsey Lyon (2-for-3, 2 RBI).

Heraty pitched 3 innings for the win, as she and Franny Quenan (2 IP) combined on a 6-hit shutout.

Dani Comitor was 2-for-2 for Vernon Hills.

Lake Zurich 8, Stevenson 4: Amanda Guercio (2-for-4, 2 RBI) and Jessica Puccinelli (2-for-2, 3 RBI) each tripled for the Bears in the North Suburban Lake game. Puccinelli also doubled.

Lake Zurich also got 2 hits from Vanessa DiVincenzo. Marin Allgood was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI. Katie Malek allowed 2 earned runs in a complete-game effort in the circle.

For Stevenson, Hannah Epstein was 3-for-4 with a home run and double, while Vera Pflugradt and Emma Oriatti each contributed 2 hits. Alyssa Pauly doubled as well for the Patriots.

Antioch 11, Round Lake 6: Ashley Stephens homered for the second game in a row, doubled and finished 3-for-4 with 3 RBI, as the Sequoits improved to 10-1 and 5-0 in the North Suburban Prairie.

Hannah Skoog also went 3-for-4 for Antioch. Skoog tripled, while Taylor Schiltz, Amanda Costain and Annie Wagner (2 RBI) contributed doubles. Jessica Tyrell was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Winning pitcher Hannah Cook struck out eight and did not allow a hit in 5 2/3 innings.

Round Lake's Ashley Wegner homered and drove in 3 runs, while Kylie Bart had a double and an RBI.

Johnsburg 9, Grayslake Central 4: Brandy Heraty homered and knocked in 3 runs, and Emma Eiserman was 3-for-4 for the Rams in their Fox Valley Conference loss.

Grayslake Central got 2 hits apiece from Teagan Truskowski (double) and Morgan Smigielkski.

Cary-Grove 10, Grayslake North 0: Brooke Phillips doubled for the Knights, who had only 3 hits in the Fox Valley Conference game.
