Tigers win Wheaton cross-town game

WW South 4, Wheaton North 0:

Chris Simpson dominated in a complete-game effort with 8 strikeouts and a walk for the Tigers (2-8, 1-0) in their DuPage Valley Conference cross-town win. Austin Polezoes went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI. Spiro Pavlou also drove in a run.

Naperville North 8, Lake Park 6:

The Huskies (4-6, 1-0) won their DuPage Valley Conference opener in 10 innings by scoring twice in the top of the inning on Christian Barczi's RBI single and Sam Siebers' sacrifice fly. Parker Aquino was the winning pitcher with 3 innings of scoreless relief for starter Mark Khoury. Colin Fowich went 3-for-6 with a run scored for Lake Park (5-3, 0-1).

Willowbrook 4, Addison Trail 3:

Trey Jones singled home Mike Petruzzi with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh to give the Warriors (10-2, 6-0) the three-game West Suburban Gold sweep. Matt Garbacz was the complete-game winning pitcher. Mike Rybarczyk went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI for Addison Trail.

Benet 6, St. Francis 5:

After sending the game to extra innings with 3 runs in the bottom of the seventh, Benet (6-4) won it in the eighth on Cole Channell's RBI single that scored Alex Sivak. Channell, Connor Hickey and Mike Ryan all had 2 hits. Evan Plonis drove in 3 runs. Will Purdom went 3-for-5 for St. Francis (6-5) while Jason Sullivan, Jake Radel and Nick Dama each had 2 hits.

Glenbard South 10, IC Catholic 0:

Dylan Brambora pitched a 2-hitter over 5 innings, striking out seven and walking none. Alex McGimpsey went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and Brian Ashe also had 2 hits with an RBI.

Glenbard West 11, Proviso West 1:

Will Simoneit went 3-for-3 with a double, triple and 5 RBI for the Hilltoppers (7-4, 3-0), who swept in the West Suburban Silver. Zach Lutz and Ryan Coleman combined on the mound.

Downers South 5, York 4:

Joe LaCivita's leadoff home run in the bottom of the sixth inning proved to be the game-winner for the Mustangs (7-2), who received a complete game from Zach Jones. LaCivita and Joey Engel had 2 hits while Zach Radde drove in 2 runs. Mike Homan had 2 RBI for York.
