A few years back, my wife and I had our first view of the Badlands in South Dakota. It was cold, windy and could only be enjoyed form the inside of the car. The photo doesn't capture the cold or the wind but it does capture the color, texture and eerie landscape that has drawn us back. Tony Pocewicz, from Carpentersville
I took this picture in Starved Rock State Park last year. While walking along a trail that follows the Illinois river I spotted this sparrow feasting on some juniper berries. He didn't seem to mind my invading his privacy, and continued with his meal. Milton Hoskins of Hampshire
My wife and I recently visited the redesigned Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida. I was overwhelmed by the stunning architecture of the building. I photographed Saturday's lunar eclipse (blood moon) event. These photos were taken near its peak when it finally started to turn a pinkish color. This photo of the candy droplets was taken at home in my rec. room. I started with a bowl of "skittles" candy and placed a piece of glass from a picture frame over the bowl. Use of an eye dropper was needed to place water drops on the glass. By manually focusing through the drops, this colorful and unusual image appeared. Randy Link, from Winfield
