Winning pitcher Fred Gosbeth struck out 15 in a 3-hitter for the Wildcats (4-2, 2-0) in their Upstate Eight River Conference victory. Jared Smothers and Brian Sullivan each had 2 hits.
Glenbard North 11, Glenbard West 0:
Leading 3-0 after an inning, the Panthers (6-2) broke open the game with 5 runs in the fourth and ended it in the fifth. Alex Taylor led the offensive barrage by going 2-for-3 with a double and 5 RBI. John Bosco and Luke Greenberg drove in 2 runs apiece. Winning pitcher Eric Orze struck out five, walked none and scattered 3 hits in 4 innings. Arno Curtis had a pair of hits for Glenbard West (4-4).
Downers South 8, Addison Trail 5:
The Mustangs (5-2, 3-0) capped a three-game West Suburban Gold Conference sweep behind a 3-for-3 effort from Danny Oriente and 3 RBI from Zack Radde. Ty McCulloch pitched into the fifth inning to notch the win. Jake Atiyeh went 2-for-4 and Eric Gilliam drove in 2 runs for Addison Trail (1-6 0-3).
Waubonsie Valley 3, East Aurora 0:
Preston Everts fired an 89-pitch no-hitter with 8 strikeouts and 3 walks for the Warriors (6-1, 2-0) in their Upstate Eight Valley Conference victory. Brandon Petersen and Nick Santoro each had 2 hits while Garret Howicz drove in 2 runs.
Wheaton North 3, York 2:
Casey Becker singled home Erik Mueller with the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning for the Falcons (3-5). Becker also pitched 6 innings to win on the mound. Zach Colangelo got the save. Kyle Coughlin and Phil Schlitter went 2-for-3 for York (1-8).
Fenton 5, Leyden 4:
Trailing 3-2 the Bison (3-3) scored twice in the bottom of the fifth and once in the sixth to pull out the victory. Eric Pingel and Griffin Idelman each went 2-for-3. Mike Perry won with 3 innings of relief of Matt Lucas.
Westmont 11, Timothy Christian 1:
The Sentinels (8-2) ended the game by scoring 6 runs in the top of the sixth. Matt Alisauskas went 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI. Andrew Rosol drove in 3 runs and Anthony Alessi had 2 RBI. Austin Loehman struck out three and allowed no earned runs to pick up the win.
