Gualdoni, Grabarek returned to Elburn board
Incumbents William Grabarek and David Gualdoni won re-election Tuesday to the Elburn village board and will be joined by newcomer John Krukoff.
According to unofficial returns, with all three precincts reporting, Grabarek had 395 votes, Krukoff had 373 and Gualdoni had 344. Absentee ballots were not included in the count.
Michael Rullman received 248 votes.
Grabarek said he was "flattered."
"I really did not expect to do as well as I did," he said. "I was a little concerned because I'm the oldest guy on the board and given the Millennials and Gen X'ers, what they thought, if they were just looking for a change."
Three, 4-year terms were available. Trustee Craig Swan, appointed last year to fill a vacancy, did not run.
This will be Grabarek's fourth term on the board, and Gualdoni's second.
"I'm glad my neighbors thought I was going to do a good job for them," Krukoff said.
Krukoff will join a board that is trying to figure out how to pay for its police officers' pensions. He said Tuesday he agreed with a proposal floated by Swan to raise the town's sales tax, via referendum.
