Dogs have their day at Wood Dale egg hunt

Life as a dog can be a pretty good deal if you've got a nice home and some well-trained humans.

You get to eat and sleep and get your belly rubbed, and every once in a while somebody takes you for a walk or maybe lets you chase a tennis ball or a squirrel or something like that.

And if you're really, really lucky, for the holidays your humans bring you someplace like the White Oaks Dog Park and let you participate in the Doggie Egg Hunt, where you get to bounce around with other pooches in search of eggs filled with doggy treats.

About 30 dogs were lucky enough to take part in this year's event, held Sunday at the Wood Dale park, said Shari Wenzel, special events coordinator for the Wood Dale Park District.

Among them was Buddy, who was joined by owner Peter Campos and his two daughters.

“It is a good time, we come rain or shine, we love it,” the Wood Dale resident said.
