Heart Sounds 2015 Symposium to highlight innovations in cardiology

Elgin - Medical professionals are invited to attend "Innovations in Cardiology: Heart Sounds 2015", a one-day symposium hosted by Presence Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin.

The educational program for registered nurses, emergency medical technicians, doctors and other clinicians will be held Saturday, April 18, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

The program will follow the treatment journey of a patient with cardiovascular disease, heart failure, or advanced heart failure. Topics to be discussed include acute coronary syndrome, coronary artery bypass graft surgery, atrial fibrillation, device diagnostics, genetic testing, and advanced therapies.

Key physician speakers include David Bromet, MD, interventional cardiologist; Juan Bonilla, MD, cardiac surgeon; Syed Hassan, MD, Interventional Cardiologist; Richard Park, MD, interventional cardiologist, David Metzl, MD, electrophysiologist, and Agnieszka Silbert, MD, cardiologist.

The afternoon session will focus on nurse-led outpatient clinics, outpatient device management, and palliative care. Speakers include Janet Lenz, APN; Joan Lunebach, RN, MSN; Terri Burritt, RN, MSN; and Patty Lamp, APN.

The fee is $79 and includes breakfast and lunch. A special fee of $39 is offered to students and Presence Health Employees. Six CEU will be provided. Register by calling (877) 737-4636.
