Heraty pitches Libertyville to win

Sophomore Hannah Heraty threw 5 quality innings, as Libertyville's softball team opened its season with an 11-1 win over Niles North on Thursday.

Heraty scattered 4 hits, struck out four and did not walk a batter.

The Wildcats were led offensively by freshman Franny Quenan (2-for-4, double, 2 RBI), junior Jamie Stevens (2-for-2, double, RBI, 2 HBP), senior Madi Dembinski (2-for-4, double, 2 RBI) and freshman Sarah Hoyer (2-for-4, double 2 RBI).

"Hannah did a great job in her first varsity start," Libertyville coach Elissa Wisniewski said. "Our upperclassman, as well as our freshmen, did a great job stepping up with runners on. This was a complete team win up and down our lineup against a good-hitting Niles team."
