Watch kids try out instruments during Grayslake program

Little fingers were strumming, banging and plucking Thursday at the Grayslake Public Library.

Children's music instructor Sue Nierman of Mundelein brought her Instrument Zoo program to the library, where kids ages 3 through 5 got a chance to play with just about any instrument they could imagine. They were able to explore guitars, accordions, drums, bells, violins, saxophones, and more.

The hourlong program culminated with songs such as "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" and Happy Birthday" played on kazoo they received and were able to take home as a musical gift.

"I believe in planting the musical seed very early in life," Nierman said. "Hopefully, it will grow and nurture into something that they will have even into adulthood."
