Aurora church to stage 'Living Last Supper" April 2-3

For the third year in a row, a "Living Last Supper" will be staged at 7 p.m. on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, April 2 and 3 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 14 N. May St., Aurora.

With music and period costumes, the performance will bring to life Leonardo da Vinci's painting of Jesus Christ's last supper with his disciples.

The public is invited. Admission is free, but tickets are required. For tickets, call (630) 896-1033. Reserved seating is from 6:30 to 6:50 p.m.; doors close at 7 p.m.

Music will include a women's chorus, and Communion will be offered. Free child care will be available in the church nursery. Refreshments will be served after the program.

The production is based on Earnest K. Emurian's script and Leonardo da Vinci's painting of the Jesus' last supper. During the drama, 12 disciples ask "Is it I?" in a series of monologues about the betrayal of Jesus.

The Rev. John Bell, Wesley UMC pastor, will portray Jesus. Apostles are: Peter, Nathan Connell, Aurora; Andrew, Bruce Lindgren, Aurora; Simon, Larry Miller, North Aurora; Philip, Bob McKnight, Aurora; James, Dave Studdard, Aurora; Judas, Joe Rigaud, Aurora; Thaddeus, Bill Frazier, Aurora; Thomas, Bill Garbe, Aurora; James the Lesser, Jonathan Akyea, 0swego; John, Josh Reynolds, Aurora; Matthew, Fred Neumann, Aurora; and Nathaniel, Bill Nelson, North Aurora.

In addition, Mary will be portrayed by Michelle Ulrich, Aurora; Roman guards will be Nick DeKing of Aurora and J.T. Bell, Aurora; narrator, Mike Rumple, Aurora; understudy, Wally Loague, Aurora; and music director, Peggy Weems, Plainfield.

Choir members will be Peggy Weems, Plainfield; Meredith Lindgren, Aurora; Cindy Chase, Aurora; and Allison Bell, Aurora. Guest harpist will be Nichole Luchs, Plano.
