Jacobs wins two more in Marion

Jacobs' baseball team scored 4 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning Tuesday then held off a Cary-Grove rally in the top of the seventh to beat the Trojans 5-4 at Rent One Ballpark in downstate Marion.

Mike Addante (2-for-4) tripled and scored on a single by Ryan Sargent to get the inning started. Daniel Tenayuca and Bryce Pahl also had RBI in the inning for the Golden Eagles (4-1).

Evan Libeau was the winning pitcher with relief help from Brenden Heiss.

Tyler Pennington went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI for Cary-Grove while Matt Sutherland had a triple and Wyatt Mascarella added an RBI and John Carone had a double. Shane Barlas took the loss for the Trojans (3-1-1).

Jacobs 6, Wauconda 5: Earlier in the day the Golden Eagles scored in the top of the eighth inning on Mike Addante's single that scored Ryan Wolinski. Johnny Rohde then pitched out of a jam in the bottom of the eighth after walking two as Jacobs held on for the win. Addante and Matt Koziak had 2 hits for the Eagles and Daniel Tenayuca picked up the win in relief.
