Ex-Islamic Foundation finance director admits theft

The former finance director of the Islamic Foundation in Villa Park faces up to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing approximately $500,000 from his former employer. Inam Rahim, 60, of Naperville, pleaded guilty to theft of over $100,000 moments before a jury was to be selected for his trial yesterday. Full story.

Son gets 35 years for killing father

A Westmont man convicted of fatally stabbing his father in May 2011 was sentenced Monday to 35 years in prison. A DuPage County jury deliberated for less than two hours in January before convicting William Clifford III, 36, of first-degree murder. New owners take over Tuscan Market in Arlington Hts.

Tuscan Market and Wine Shop in downtown Arlington Heights has been sold to new owners. Amy Philpott, former owner of the shop at 141 W. Wing St., said she has sold the business to fellow Arlington Heights residents Colin and Lisa Gilbert. The establishment's role in the community will remain the same. Full story.

St. Charles woman dies after crash in parking lot

An autopsy yesterday preliminarily determined that a St. Charles woman who crashed her vehicle in a Jewel-Osco parking lot died of multiple traumatic injuries, coroner's officials said. Marianne Hinger, 86, was driving through the parking lot of the store on the 600 block of North Kirk Road around 4:30 p.m. Sunday when she stopped her car to let a pedestrian pass and then accelerated into a median and then a tree. Displaced Rolling Meadows residents get $1,000 checks

Residents who were displaced from 49 units of a Rolling Meadows condo building after a fatal fire earlier this month each received a $1,000 check from the complex's management company. One person died in that fire. Full story.

Weather

No worries of snow today, as dry conditions will start the day. It will be chilly, however, with partly cloudy skies and temperatures hovering around 25 degrees when you walk out the door this morning. Expect significant delays on northbound Route 53, near Biesterfield Road, as the two right lanes are blocked due to a car fire. In addition, some Metra trains on the Union Pacific North line are delayed this morning. Full story.
