Program brings principals, kids together through books

Copeland Manor students and family showed up to Cook Park Library in Libertyville to listen to their principal read books Monday night.

The program was part of the Principals Read program where School administrators from the northern end of the library district visit Cook Park Library to read their favorite children's books.

Principal Lori Poelking read two books "The Snatchabook" by Helen and Thomas Docherty and "Going Places" by Peter and Paul Reynolds.

"This is so awesome that principals are invited to come out and spend this time with families," said Poelking.

She was joined by Copeland Manor second-grader Kendyl Roberts of Libertyville as she read a book she wrote titled "Copland Character Counts," which explained the Six Pillars of Character; Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship.

The Principals Read program will continue at Cook Park Library in Libertyville at 6:45pm in April with:

St. Joseph School April 7; Rondout School April 16; Oak Grove School April 21; Rockland School April 27; Adler School April 28; and Butterfield school April 30.
