Antioch Township man, 76, killed in fire

A 76-year-old man was killed Sunday morning when fire broke out in an upstairs room of an Antioch-area home where he and six others, including his wife, daughter and three of his grandchildren, were living. Lake County sheriff's officials said Lowell B. Simonson, of the 38000 block of North Drexel Boulevard, was pronounced dead at Centegra Hospital-McHenry, where he was taken after firefighters pulled him from the burning three-story home. His wife, Patricia A. Simonson, 74, managed to escape the fire, but is in serious condition at the same hospital suffering from smoke inhalation, officials said. Full story.

Person stabbed in White Castle parking lot

Lake in the Hills police are investigating a stabbing that occurred early Sunday morning after a traffic dispute in the parking lot of a White Castle restaurant. The victim, whom police did not identify, was in stable condition after being stabbed in the chest, according to a news release. Police said a minor crash occurred in the restaurant parking lot along Randall Road about 4:10 a.m. Sunday. The victim was stabbed during a subsequent argument, police said. Full story.

Kentucky leads the way with top spot in March Madness

Kentucky's chasing history, trying to become the first undefeated champion in March Madness since Indiana in 1976. The Wildcats are seeded first overall in the tournament and tops in the Midwest Region, in search of six more wins for a perfect season. Short-handed Bulls fall to Thunder
