Wauconda man charged with stabbing wife

A Wauconda man is accused of threatening to hurt his wife and then stabbing her, officials said.

Luis Morales, 24, of the 1100 block of Northshore Drive, is charged with one count of attempted aggravated kidnapping, one count of aggravated domestic battery and one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Wauconda police were called around 8:30 a.m. Friday about a domestic situation at the home involving a knife, according to news release from the Wauconda Police Department.

When officers arrived, they found Morales' 21-year-old wife with a laceration to her left hand, the release said. The woman identified Morales as her attacker and said he had been served with an order of protection on Thursday, police said.

Morales fled the scene but later was taken into custody after a traffic stop by the McCollum Lake Police Department.

The woman was treated for her injuries at a hospital and released.

Morales is due Saturday in bond court.
