Buffalo Grove Holocaust survivor re-appointed to state commission

Fritzie Fritzshall, a Buffalo Grove resident and president of the board of the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center in Skokie, was reappointed to the Illinois Holocaust and Genocide Commission.

Gov. Bruce Rauner announced the reappointment this week.

As a Holocaust survivor, Fritzshall has focused much of her life on teaching lessons of the Holocaust.

Fritzshall's husband, Norman, is a former U.S. Marine who was captured and imprisoned by the Japanese in World War II while she was in Auschwitz.

Rauner's office says the commission helps direct Holocaust education in Illinois.
