Boys water polo: Northwest roundup

Defending Mid-Suburban East boys water polo champion Hersey earned an 11-4 win over Schaumburg in its first MSL action of the season.

Jake Hall had 4 goals and Eric Dieterich had 3 to lead the way for the Huskies, who held the visiting Saxons with a goal in the third period on Wednesday.

James Birriel scored twice to pace Schaumburg.

Buffalo Grove 16, Hoffman Estates 10: Chris Schulstad scored 5 goals and Liam Boubouleix and Anthony Sorgani had 4 apiece to help the host Bison prevail in an MSL crossover.

Palatine 14, Elk Grove 8: Ryan Schlaiss (8 goals) and Marcus Carter-Buckman (4) led the way offensively as the visiting Pirates earned an MSL crossover victory.

Jacob Baran and Alex Adame also scored for Palatine (1-1), while Baran produced 7 steals and goalie Jake Conrad stopped 11 shots.

Adam Doruff and David Drange both had 3 goals for the Grenadiers, and Chris Doruff scored twice and delivered 8 steals.
