• Children's book author Dav Pilkey and award-winning illustrator Dan Santat present their new book, "Ricky Ricotta's Mighty Robot vs. The Stupid Stinkbugs From Saturn," at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 8, at The Corral, 4940 Willow Springs Road, Western Springs. Cross St., Wheaton. Fischer Hellmann looks at the benefits, drawbacks and costs of choosing to self-publish. Copies of the author's books will be available for purchase and signing at the event. • Former Barrington resident and best-selling author Veronica Roth will be on hand celebrate the upcoming movie tie-in edition of her best-selling book, "Insurgent" (opening in theaters on Friday, March 20) at an author event at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at the Tivoli Theatre, 5021 Highland Ave., Downers Grove. Roth will discuss her writing career and will take questions from the audience. A screening of the film "Divergent," based on Roth's book of the same title, will be shown. Tickets cost $25 and include a pre-signed copy of "Insurgent." Tickets are available at Anderson's Bookshop, 123 W.
