Administer Justice offers free tax seminar

Administer Justice will hold a free tax seminar on Thursday, March 12. "Tax Time: Understand What You are Signing" will be offered at 6 p.m. at the organization's main office, 1750 Grandstand Place, Suite 15, Elgin. It is a local nonprofit providing comprehensive legal, financial, conflict resolution and educational services to low-income individuals.

This bilingual seminar, presented by attorney and legal services director Judith Miller, will cover: why and when to file your taxes, filing status, exemptions, deductions, the Affordable Care Act, and how to avoid tax filing scams. The seminar is free, but space is limited. Those attending should plan to arrive early to ensure a seat.

Administer Justice, a Christian nonprofit legal aid takes a holistic approach to client care providing free civil legal assistance, counseling on money management, debt reduction, and tax rights and responsibilities. The organization, headquartered in Elgin, served more than 4,500 individuals in 2014 with the help of hundreds of volunteers.
