North: Random thoughts and shots to all fields

It's time for some of my many random thoughts.

• I believe the New York Knicks (12-48) would lose to the unbeaten Kentucky Wildcats (30-0).

• It's a shame the Patrick Sharp rumors alleged infidelities and problems with his Blackhawks teammates became public, and I understand Sharp's need to speak out, but unfortunately that just made it more public and a national story.

• This just in: the Chicago Bears still have Jay Cutler as their quarterback.

• People are taking shots at the surging Atlanta Hawks' (48-12) fan base. Former Hawk Josh Smith, now with the Houston Rockets, took a shot at the fans with his "bandwagon" comment after suffering a loss to his old team, 104-96. Atlanta is back in a big way, but what do we see on TV? The pathetic Knicks, the Boston Celtics (24-35), and even the Los Angeles Lakers (16-44). Sorry but the franchise has been ignored by everyone across the board.

• Hey, is Jay Cutler still on the Bears?

• I see the Oklahoma Thunder's Russell Westbrook gaining MVP votes with his fourth straight triple-double, despite wearing a mask to protect his face after surgery to repair a fracture. He's the anti-Derrick Rose, and nothing seems to stop him from getting back on the court.

• "White Sox Rob" writes me claiming Sox attendance has decreased every year since I left WSCR. That might be a reach, but I was pretty much a PR machine for the Sox even though they didn't always like some of the PR. But debate about a team's strengths and weaknesses is good for business. I never sugarcoated the issues because that's not Sox fans' style. They just like the plain truth. Hopefully, this year, with what I think is a pretty good team, the people and the interest will come back. Sox fans can be fickle and they won't attend games, watch them on TV or listen on radio as much when they aren't winning or at least an exciting team.

• By the way, I just checked, and Jay Cutler is still on the Bears.

• I don't think Danica Patrick will ever win a NASCAR race.

• The Cubs were recently denied expanded construction work hours on Wrigley Field. What a mess. Maybe they had too much time to plan. As my Uncle Tony used to say, study long, study wrong!

• Alex Rodriguez is back in a New York Yankees uniform. We shouldn't care about A-Rod, but we do.

• I know it's early, but I miss Tiger Woods.

• Peyton Manning got a $4 million pay cut in Denver, and the Broncos didn't even want to give him the money deferred.

Honestly, I could go on all day. See ya!
