St. Baldrick's event Saturday in Arlington Heights

Firefighters hope to raise another $50,000 to fight childhood cancer at a fundraiser from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at H.O.M.E. Bar, 1227 Rand Road in Arlington Heights.

The head-shaving event for the St. Baldrick's Foundation last year drew 500 people, said Emmett Gribbens, president of the Wheeling firefighters union, which co-sponsors the event with the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods firefighters union. The event also includes a silent auction and raffle.

The event, in its seventh year, has raised more than $250,000 so far. To donate, visit stbaldricks.org and search for Lincolnshire and Wheeling Professional Firefighters. For more information contact organizers Adam Gambro at (847) 833-6509 or Michael Vitale at (847) 877-2815.
