Wolves acquire defenseman from Norfolk

The Chicago Wolves have acquired veteran defenseman Brendan Bell from the Norfolk Admirals for future considerations, team officials announced Tuesday.

Bells has compiled 23 points (G, 22A) and 20 penalty minutes in 47 games this season. The 31-year-old has totaled 28 points (7G, 21A) and 51 penalty minutes in 102 career NHL games, suiting up for the New York Rangers (2011-12), Ottawa (2008-09), Arizona (2006-08), and Toronto (2005-07). The Ottawa, Ontario, native has spent three of the past four seasons overseas with Biel (NLA), Frölunda (SHL), and Avangard Omsk (KHL).

The Wolves travel to Cleveland this week for a pair of games against the Lake Erie Monsters on Friday and Sunday. Following the trip they return to Allstate Arena for a homestand that features the team donning its limited-edition St. Patrick's Day jerseys on March 11, 14, and 15.
