Would you keep, eliminate or change them? How and why?The Park District staff does an excellent job of offering programs the community wants while balancing program size based on facilities being used. I'll continue to support providing quality programs based on the community. Is there any additional open space the park district needs to acquire? Please describe. This is hard to say because if the price were right and the park district had the funds, there probably is some land that would be great additions to what we have today. I know I would have liked to have seen much of the Arlington Market area get combined with Recreation Park to become a larger destination park, but there wasn't enough money to buy the land. Again, there has to be balancing between affordability and what is available. Are there any unmet recreational needs? If yes, what are they and how would you propose paying for them? Or, should they wait until the economy improves? We should continue to keep fees as flat as possible and use government grants to help fund new developments such as the new grounds at Frontier Park and the renovation at Camelot Park. We need to weigh what can be done at Recreation, Heritage and Olympic Park with current reserves so that new gym's can be built to compliment existing programming.Would you support sharing/pooling resources (i.e. printing, vehicles) with other local governments (school districts, village, etc.)? If so, what areas would you consider combining or merging to save money or improve efficiency?Where it makes economic sense, yes I'd be open to it.If you are a newcomer, what prompted you to run for the park board? If you're an incumbent, list your accomplishments or key initiatives in which you played a leadership role.I am an incumbent. My accomplishments include the following: -the new Pioneer Park Community Center -the new Camelot Park Community Center -the new Frontier Park grounds -the new Hersey High School football field conversion to synthetic turf in cooperation with District 214. this included a 50-50 sharing of costs for equal sharing of programming time. -the new Melas Park softball field conversion to synthetic turf for more playing time -Arlington Heights Senior Center renovations and new programing for Seniors -the new Sunset Meadows golf driving range facility -the new Sunset Meadows football fields added for better programming of football on Saturdays ice rink use in the winter -support of community center pool opening/closing rotations to save significant operations dollars at the beginning and end of the swimming season -the hiring of Steve Scholten to be the Executive Director of the Park District. -helped lead policy and direction for the health and longevity for our park district -support updates and renovations of existing tennis clubs and golf courses as possible within the existing fundsWhat other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?I enjoy being on the park board and helping drive direction for the parks to better serve the community. I came in to this 7 years ago to help drive renovations to our community centers. We now have 2 of the main 5 centers completed as Camelot opened at the end of the summer. This past weekend's snow storm still saw many people coming it to use the elevated walking track as a health and fitness facility provided by tax dollars and a significant grant from the Dept of Natural Resources. The parks are here for all ages of residents to use as means to enjoy programming and/or open space in their daily lives. I will continue to support these facts while being fiscally responsible. thank you for your support. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.DitkaWhat's the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Listen to your MotherIf life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Going to game 4 of the 2005 world series to see the White Sox beat the Astros in Houston. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Science and Math. both helped me be analytical in nature in problem solving. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Take control of what you can control and don't stress about what you can't control.
