What changes, if any, do you think need to be made? Our students appear to be well prepared for high school work. Our district feeds into Glenbard South HS and they continue to have a very good reputation. We have given our students a foundation upon which they can succeed. What budgetary issues will your district have to confront during the next four years and what measures do you support to address them? If you believe cuts are necessary, be specific about programs and expenses that should be considered for reduction or elimination. On the income side, do you support any tax increases for local schools? Again, be specific. The biggest potential budgetary issues are ones we do not control. The State pension cost shift and severe cuts in State funding for our district. Although local property taxes account for over 80% of our funding, State funding allows us to maintain the lowest tax rate among comparable districts in our area. If the funding burden shifts, the taxing burden would also need to shift. Are you currently employed by or retired from a school district, if so, which one? Is any member of your direct family - spouse, child or child-in-law - employed by the school district where you are seeking a school board seat?Does not apply. As contract talks come up with various school employee groups -- teachers, support staff, etc. -- what posture should the school board take? Do you believe the district should ask for concessions from its employees, expect employee costs to stay about the same as they are now or provide increases in pay or benefits? We have an amazing group of teachers and staff and want to retain and attract great talent. We also have continuing financial pressure and losses in funding. I would seek to find a balance that is fair to the teachers, but also affordable in the long term for the taxpayers. If your district had a superintendent or other administrator nearing retirement, would you support a substantial increase in his or her pay to help boost pension benefits? Why or why not?No. I do not support "Golden Parachutes". You should be compensated fairly for the work you do and not have a pension artificially boosted and paid for by the tax payers. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?Candidate did not respond. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Linus TorvaldsWhat's the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Listen. The more you listen, the more you understand. If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Pass it on to someone who really needed it.What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Science. Rational thought and always questioning your assumptions is a great life skill. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Find enjoyment in any job you do.
