I care about the present and future happenings of the community. Decisions made today will shape the community for years to come. My ability to listen to concerns and analyze the pros and cons of potential actions make me an ideal representative for residents in Ward 3. I also bring a fresh perspective to city council. What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.I am opposed to raising taxes on our already overburdened residents. However, I support raising new revenue through the redevelopment of the O'hare/Thorndale corridor and modernization of Wood Dale's downtown/irving park corridor.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns? Our police chief is second to none. He is very involved in the community and aware of the ongoings. Specifically attending chamber meetings and as a member of Clean Air Counts committee. Yet I am concerned about losing our local dispatching. While I appreciate the efforts to save money in consolidating, I am concerned about the response times from not having it locally. Our local dispatchers are familiar with the community and outsourcing it could cause delays. In regards to the Fire Department, it is a seperate entity with it's own elected board. We do have two fire departments on opposite sides of town. They are also North and South of the train tracks. They're strategic placement and staff are efficient and we are fortunate to have them.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?Intergovernmentally, by sharing resources and equipment with surrounding communities. We could learn from each other, cut costs, and save jobs. The 3rd Ward recieves the least amount of money. I would like to see more budgeted towards Capital Improvement Projects for flooding and drainage solutions. What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?The 3rd Ward is unique in sharing 2 park districts and 3 school districts making communication difficult. I propose e-mail blasts and ward meetings to keep people informed of the happenings within the ward. In the process, feedback and concerns could be heard. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?-Effective and responsive government -Budgets and spending -Flooding and drainage solutions -Reducing water rates -A fair solution to O'hare noise -Local domestic purchasing whenever possiblePlease name one current leader who most inspires you.Elon Musk. He is innovative and he not only challenged but succeeded in the auto and space industry. What's the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?At home I learned the value of hard work.If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?I would spend more time and show more appreciation for the people that are no longer with us.What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?My favorite subject in school was history. The amazing stories of the past helped me understand people, cultures, and current issues of today. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Don't give up! To believe in themselves and persevere throughout the obstacles of life.
