Listening to all our resident concerns and acting upon these concerns in a professional and timely manner. Identifying key issues facing the Village such as, Lake Michigan water, retail, commercial and housing development, while maintaining a balanced environment.How would you describe the condition of your community's budget, and what are the most important specific actions the town should take to assure providing the level of services that people want?The Village's budget is balanced, is in the black and has reserves that ensure it operates at current expected levels of service. The Finance Committee has oversight responsibility in preparing the budget with Staff and various Village Committees, ensuring the highest quality in Village services.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?It is the philosophy of the Village and its elected officials that we appropriate funds that maximize the Village's services. We are entrusted by our residents; as elected officials, to be guardians of their hard earned and paid tax dollars in a manner of fiscal responsibility.Describe your leadership style and explain how you think that will be effective in producing effective actions and decisions with your village board or city council.Listen! Having served in many leadership roles, it is best that one listens to all input, promote involvement, execute in a timely manner and recognition.What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?As a village matures, so do its residents. The exploration of land use and regulations to encourage senior housing.What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?Maintaining the continuity of the elected officials. The Village has been approved by Central Lake County Joint Action Water Agency (CLCJAWA)as a member to bring Lake Michigan water to Volo. The work that has been done over the last several years needs to be completed by the experienced officials. The process of funding of this project will start shortly and this where the experience will pay off. As Chairman of the Economic Development Committee, we are charged with bringing retail and commercial development to Volo.
